What is this handbasket we’re in, and where is it going?

Lawnmower Man – The Revenge

A Milwaukee man, in a fit of yardwork-induced rage, turned the barrel of a gun against his lawnmower and fired, assuredly voiding his warranty. Following a complaint filed by a neighbor, police arrived at the ‘crime scene’ and promptly arrested the man for possessing a “short-barreled shot gun or rifle.” Which is apparently a felony. Which means this fellow is looking at up to six years in the slammer. The lawnmower’s attorney could not be reached for comment, but it’s assumed the mower will also be suing for damages.

And I thought the second amendment made owning a gun legal. Silly me. I’m not going to get into a debate here about the merits of gun control vs. gun education (education always beats control), but the thought that you could earn six years in jail for, in essence, blowing your lawnmower away is mind-boggling.

Of course, this is just another example of when a profanity-laced tirade will get you in less trouble than your gun, even if it is less fun (which is certainly debatable).
